October 27th marks the beginning of “Saturday Movie Matinee” at The Hunter Library, a series of films based on popular books. Our first selection is “Coraline”.
The book Coraline is “A dark fantasy children’s novella by British author Neil Gaiman, published in 2002 by Bloomsbury and Harper Collins. It was awarded the 2003 Hugo Award for Best Novella, the 2003 Nebula Award for Best Novella, and the 2002 Bram Stoker Award for Best Work for Young Readers.”
The movie version,(2009, Director Henry Selick of “The Nightmare Before Christmas”) was nominated for an Acadamy Award and is much admired for it’s imaginative imagery and spooky feel.
It’s somewhat dark and therefore may not be suitable for the very young, otherwise it might well be a perfect Halloween treat. The film will be shown at 2:00pm
